Ingrid is from Toronto, with Estonian roots but now, retired, lives in Southern Georgian Bay with her husband Jaak. In her former career, she worked as a forensic lab technologist at The Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto. After many years of fascinating and rewarding work, she decided to replace the beakers with a different kind of glass and explore her creative side.

Finding your medium as an artist is much like choosing a career, sometimes it just fits. The first time Ingrid cut a piece of glass, she knew she would cut many more.

Since 1995, Ingrid has worked as a professional glass artist. She is driven to learn as much as possible about her craft and has taken numerous courses and workshops in stained glass and kiln forming glass. In addition to glasswork, Ingrid has always been interested in semi-precious stones set in gold or silver and has studied the craft at George Brown College in Toronto and at the Goldsmith School in Brisbane, Australia.

Ingrid combines her scientific side and her passion for art in every aspect of her designs. Glass requires many levels of precision, but it also allows you the freedom to explore. For example, there are reactive aspects of glass due to its chemical composition, but this also opens a window to play with it. This exploration in fusing and kiln forming glass has allowed Ingrid to expand her work in a new and exciting way
